What’s on offer with AMI’s home and contents insurance?

AMI offers two levels of home and contents insurance, as well as a separate policy for landlords:

Premier House

Premier house is AMI’s replacement policy where, under certain conditions, you are covered for the cost of rebuilding your home and replacements of damaged, lost or stolen items.

You are covered up to a maximum amount, which is tailored to you and your house using AMI’s Sum Insured feature.

Sum Insured calculates how much it would cost to rebuild your house, including all demolition, materials and labour costs. This policy also includes cover for:

  • Recreational features (pools, tennis court, etc) of up to $40,000*
  • Key and lock cover of up to $1000
  • Retaining wall cover of up to $20,000*
  • Extra natural disaster cover
  • Damage caused to other properties of up to $1 million

*Unless a higher limit is specified

Market Value House

If your house is damaged or destroyed, market value house insurance provides cover to either repair the damage or pay you your home’s market value (excluding land) at the time of the damage. Policy pays the lesser of the market value of your house, or the limit you choose as the sum insured.

AMI Landlord Insurance (Premier Rental Property Insurance)

Cover for a rental property up to the sum insured amount, plus:

  • Sudden accidental damage
  • Hidden gradual damage, up to $1500
  • Meth contamination
  • Damage caused to other properties, up to $1 million
  • Cover for damage to tenants’ contents up to $20,000

What’s on offer with AMI’s contents insurance?

AMI offers three levels of content insurance with AMI:

Advanced Contents

AMI’s highest level of contents insurance. It offers new for old cover, meaning most of your items will be repaired or replaced, regardless of how old they are. If you live in an apartment you can get up to 10% off your contents policy.

Premier Contents

AMI’s medium level of contents insurance. It covers the cost of repairing or replacing major household items under ten years old, and most furnishings under five years old. All other items are covered at market value.

Renters Insurance

Provides cover up to $10,000 for the repair or replacement of most possessions. There’s a student multi-saver benefit, if you take out Young Drivers insurance with AMI.
