ANZ has five different credit cards available for you to choose from:

ANZ Low Rate Visa

The Low Rate Visa is ANZ’s standard card, with a low interest rate on purchases making it perfect for everyday use.

  • Balance transfers: 1.99% p.a. for the first 12 months
  • Annual fee: $35
  • Online: 24/7 online banking

ANZ Airpoints Visa

The Airpoints Visa allows you to earn Airpoints Dollars when you spend money. Points are redeemable for Air New Zealand or Star Alliance flights, as well as for items at the Airpoints Store.

  • Interest rate on cash advances: 22.95% p.a.
  • Annual fee: $65
  • Airpoints: Earn 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $120 spent, with no limits
  • Contactless: Tap & Pay with Visa payWave for purchases under $80; Apple Pay & ANZ goMoney Wallet also supported

ANZ Airpoints Visa Platinum

An upgraded version of the Airpoints Visa with improved features:

  • Airpoints: Earn 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $75 spent, and 1 Status Point for every $250 spent; Two Air New Zealand Lounge eVouchers for every $30,000 spent
  • Annual fee: $150
  • Platinum Visa services: Visa Concierge service, 0% commission on foreign currency purchases

Eligibility to apply for ANZ credit cards

To apply for any of ANZ’s credit cards, you must be able to satisfy the following criteria:

  • You must be a New Zealand resident
  • You must be over 18 years of age
  • You must not have declared bankruptcy or insolvency in the last five years

How to apply for a ANZ credit card

How to apply for a ANZ credit card If you satisfy all of the above criteria, you can apply online for a credit card using the ANZ website, call ANZ on 0800 269 277, or visit a branch to apply in person. ANZ says approved card applicants generally receive conformation of approval within 24 hours, and the new card should arrive within 5-7 work days.

You will need the usual documentation to apply for a credit card, including:

  1. Your employment details
  2. Your annual income
  3. Your usual living expenses
  4. Details about assets you own such as a home, car, other belongings or savings
  5. Any debts you currently owe on other credit cards, loans or overdrafts

If you don’t currently have an ANZ bank account, you’ll also need to provide:

  • Valid identification
  • Mail that has been addressed to your residential address in the past three months
