Choosing the self-storage provider for you

Storing your possessions in self-storage takes expert knowledge to achieve the best results. You need to know how much space you need, and once you've rented your storage unit it's reassuring to know there's always somebody on hand at the facility to answer your questions and provide help when required.

Therefore it's no surprise that Customer Service is the most important factor for Kiwis when rating their self-storage providers. Cited by 27% of those in our research, it rates more highly than Value for Money 25%.

That Safety & Security are only the biggest concern for 7% of respondents reflects the high levels of security on offer from most modern storage facilities.

Overall, here's what the consumers in our survey say are their most important considerations when rating their self-storage providers:

  • Customer Service: 27%
  • Value for Money: 25%
  • Convenient Location: 15%
  • Quality of Storage: 14%
  • Accessibility: 11%
  • Safety & Security: 7%
