State's comprehensive home policy covers:

  • Accidental loss or damage, up to the Home Sum Insured amount specified on your policy
  • Temporary accommodation (up to $30,000)
  • Hidden gradual damage from leaking internal plumbing, or similar (up to $3000)
  • Retaining walls (up to $50,000)
  • Excess-free replacement keys and locks
  • Legal liability cover of up to $2 million
  • Stress payment ($2000)

Optional extras include excess-free glass and bathroom fixtures and matching floor coverings replacement.

What's on offer from State's contents insurance?

State's comprehensive contents policy covers:

  • Accidental loss or damage, both in and out of home
  • Repair or replacement cover for most items
  • Temporary accommodation costs (up to $30,000)
  • Contents while in storage or transit
  • Identity theft (up to $2500)
  • Legal liability cover of up to $2 million

What's on offer from State's landlord's home and contents comprehensive cover

State also offers a combined landlord's home and contents insurance option, protecting your investment property. This policy includes:

  • Repairing or rebuilding to as close as possible to new in the event of sudden and accidental loss or damage
  • Contents cover
  • Loss of rent (up to $30,000)
  • Rent default (up to 15 weeks' rent)

About State

State insurance has been in business in NZ for over 100 years, and at one point was government owned. Since its sale in 2011, it's been a division of IAG New Zealand Limited, which in turn is a subsidiary of Insurance Australia Group. Currently State manages around 900,000 policies for over 400,000 Kiwis.
