Canstar reviews how Partners Life’s health insurance policies compare against those of other health insurers in New Zealand.

What health insurance policies does Partners Life offer?

Partners Life offers two health insurance policies:

  • Private Medical Cover
  • Specific Condition Cover and Hospital Cash Cover

Partners Life insurance is designed to be tailored to your specific needs, and the above policies can be mixed and matched with other Partners Life policies, such as Trauma Cover and Income Cover, for a more comprehensive package.

What's covered by Partners Life's Private Medical Cover policy?

Private Medical Cover funds quick access to, and a choice of, treatment in the private medical sector, meaning you can get the best care without having to wait for the public system.

Policy details:

  • Surgical treatments (inpatient and outpatient)
  • Accommodation and transport costs for the life assured and support person
  • Drug or radiotherapy treatment
  • Medical tourism costs
  • Medsafe-approved drug costs

What isn't covered by Partners Life's Private Medical Care policy?

  • Costs which are covered by ACC
  • Treatments where the public system is the best option
  • Small treatment costs
  • Elective treatment costs
  • Self-induced medical treatment requirements

For full cover details, check Partners Life's policy documents.

What's covered by Partners Life's Specific Condition and Hospital Cash Cover policies?

These products are exclusive to Partners Life, and take a different approach to claims. These products pay a small, defined amount of money if you suffer a specific health event, or require a specific medical treatment.

What isn't covered by Partners Life’s Specific Condition and Hospital Cash Cover policies

Similar to other health insurance providers, exclusions vary between each policy and centre largely around eligibility criteria for each level of cover.

What makes Partners Life health insurance different?

Partners Life doesn't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to health insurance. This is why Partners Life doesn't offer an online quotation tool, or a breakdown of benefit limits and cover.

Instead, Partners Life's independent advisers tailor a solution specific to your needs.
