The brands rated are listed below in order of best overall satisfaction.
1. My Food Bag
My Food Bag is New Zealand’s original, home-grown meal kit delivery service. And as the winner of Canstar’s latest award, it’s clearly also the nation’s favourite meal kit brand.
In this year’s award ratings, My Food Bag sits at the top of our table with an almost perfect set of 5-Star ratings from consumers across all categories. Noticeably it’s the only meal kit brand to earn a 5-Star rating for Overall Satisfaction.
My Food Bag also scores perfect ratings in the all-important categories of Taste, Freshness and Value for Money.
My Food Bag is the highest profile food kit delivery brand in the market, thanks to its co-founder, celebrity chef Nadia Lim.
My Food Bag offers recipe options including: family favourites, healthy choices, veggie & vegan, gluten free and quick 15-min prep. There is also a gourmet option for an additional $3.99 per plate.

Not all meal kit brands in the market qualify for our ratings (based on minimum survey sample size), but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth considering. Here is another meal kit brand to check out before making your final decision.
Woop!
Woop!'s point of difference is that the ingredients for its dishes are preprepared. For example, vegetables are diced and chopped and sometimes even par-cooked. Because of this extra preparation, Woop!'s prices tend to be higher than its competitors'.
Woop! currently offers five menu selections:

Choosing the right meal kit for you
Food and mealtimes are a focus of family life. But planning menus, hitting the shops and then cooking food can be stressful, especially if you’re having to cater for a large and busy clan.
That’s why many people rely on meal kits to relieve the pressure of planning and preparing evening meals. Of the 647 Kiwis in our awards survey, well over half (63%) said that they use meal kits primarily for the convenience of having a lot of the hard work around dinnertimes done for them.
However, there is a cost to convenience, which is why when rating their meal kit choices, Value for Money is the biggest factor for our survey respondents, cited by just under a third (30%).
It’s worth noting that since our 2024 award, meal kit prices across our featured brands have increased only slightly, around 2%, so they continue to offer good value for time-poor families.
