What are Canstar’s Most Satisfied Customers Awards?

Canstar's Most Satisfied Customers Awards recognise companies with the most satisfied customers, based on consumer surveys involving thousands of everyday Kiwis.

How many Kiwis do we survey for our ratings?

Canstar surveyed 198 Kiwis who had used a fuel card for business purposes in the past 12 months and asked for their feedback on their fuel card provider. The outcomes reported in these ratings are measured via Pureprofile's accredited online research panel.

What criteria are used to rate business fuel cards?

Respondents rate their satisfaction with their business fuel cards from zero to ten, where zero is extremely dissatisfied and ten is extremely satisfied. Brand satisfaction was rated by respondents on the following criteria: Overall satisfaction: measures consumer satisfaction with a provider as an individual score NOT a combined total of all criteria. Ease of integration: the accounting software is compatible with multiple programs and apps. Customer service: the accounting software brand’s staff are readily available to contact, respond quickly and help with any questions or issues that arise. Ease of use: the accounting software is easy to use, and has clear instructions or guides to help. Functionality: the accounting software has various features (i.e. inventory, payroll, billing and invoicing, etc) to help with preparing reports and tracking business dealings. Reporting: the accounting software has a number of reporting options, and can generate a wide range of reports (i.e. quarterly review documents, payroll, etc). Value for money: the cost is reasonable for the quality and functionality of the accounting software.

How do we determine the winner?

The winning brand receives the highest overall rating once all the scores from each category are combined and averaged.

Which business fuel cards do we rate?

Brands must have received at least 30 responses to be included, so not all brands available in the market have been compared in this survey. The brands rated are listed below in order of best overall satisfaction.

This is the third time that the Z Business Fuel Card has won our award, and it does so on the back of a perfect set of 5-Star ratings from its users across all our award categories.

Choosing the right fuel card for your business

Fuel prices are always a concern, and prices at the pump remain the biggest concern for those in our survey when it comes to rating their overall satisfaction with their choice of fuel card.

Fuel discounts are the No.1 factor for almost half (41%) of respondents, with Fees & Charges close behind, cited by a third (33%) of those in our survey.
