How to compare credit card rewards – popcorn maker versus petrol voucher

Credit card rewards come in all shapes and sizes. CANSTAR database tracks thousands of individual rewards offered across categories that include frequent flyer, lifestyle entertainment, shopping vouchers, food, wine, cash-back and much more.

In our Rewards star ratings, we research rewards programs linked to credit cards. We chose two annual spend levels – $24,000 and $60,000 ““ which reflect common spend levels for the majority of consumers. The analysed spend levels serve to highlight that rewards programs are generally designed for those who make full use of their credit cards as part of their everyday spending habits. Both spend levels were then separated into general and frequent flyer rewards categories.

The results included with this report clearly show five-star rewards programs which offer outstanding value through their mix of net reward return, choice of features, rewards and fees. Our research is far more comprehensive than an ordinary consumer could, or would, undertake privately, making this report valuable to those compiling a shopping list of credit card rewards of interest.
